So often people use the term capacity building but very rarely does one’s definition of the term translate directly to another’s definition of the term. Moreover, often people are talking about a short term solution to an immediate concern or issue. To be clear, TWG’s definition of the term capacity building is an inclusive and long-term strategy that involves building the internal infrastructure of an organization while providing it with the wherewithal to sustain and grow over time. The goal of capacity building is to improve our client’s outcomes by increasing the core competencies of the organization and staff.
TWG offers customized, results-driven capacity building assistance for areas of need that start with an assessment of where you are and where you need to go. We place an emphasis on using a systems approach to build or strengthen your infrastructure and to improve communications across functions and disciplines. Through this process, you will set goals and objectives, create implementation plans, design benchmarks to assess how well you are doing and align today’s activities with your organization’s long term plans. Your organization will be able to sustain and grow in a competitive market place.
Throughout this process, TWG staff will maintain an effective relationship both internally and externally as the organization grows and develops a process that it can sustain over time. During your consultation, your team will learn about innovative models; will know how to create and implement processes for sustained organizational change; identify new opportunities for continuous improvement and have the ability to measure the results of change you and your team implement.
Our Capacity Building Practice has the following products and services to offer:

- Operational Services

Strategic Architecture involves assisting clients in identifying and creating growth platforms, explores emerging opportunities, and leveraging core competencies to develop a creative strategy for your organizations that result in sustained and manageable growth. TWG does this by sharing your passion for creating innovation, utilizing tested improvement tools and by creating a comprehensive process to meet specific targets.
Under Operational Services, TWG’s dedicated team of professionals assists your organization in creating better operational and financial efficiencies through direct Technical Assistance and one-on-one training with your senior leaders. TWG will conduct an environmental assessment to determine where improvements can be made within your organization, in order to improve performance of your staff. Additionally, we can review policies and procedures or create fiscal/operational management tools for your team. Our services involve examining the existing operational framework of an organization, applying a diagnostic process and developing a work plan that maps the workflow of the organization. From this process, we together create realistic benchmarking for each area of operations that ultimately enhances performance.
Board Development: All organizations, whether for–profit or non-profit, need Board Development Training. TWG’s Team can provide Board Development Trainings on Fiduciary Responsibilities of the Board, Fund Raising for Board Members and Management of your Board for Senior Executives. The service is completely tailored to the client’s needs and can involve various formats, including Board Retreats, workshops for Policies, Procedure Development, and Facilitation/Mediation for conflict resolution at the Board level.
Proposal Writing/Development involves our team of experts assisting an organization to respond to a Request for Proposal (RFP) or Request for Application (RFA) from federal, state, national or international sources. We also have the expertise to assist organizations that need to establish a procurement process, including RFP or RFA development through our third party administration function under the Program Practice.
Program Development involves our team assisting an organization in the development of a program area that may need additional resources, program design, policies and procedures or oversight. Our team of experts can assist your organization in creating or enhancing a program through providing capacity-building tools that will improve efficiency and effectiveness. We place a special emphasis on performance outcomes and evaluation processes.
